At Back to the Garden Childcare in Broadheath, Altrincham, we love celebrating summer as it means more time in our beautiful garden! The outdoors is the best natural classroom, it offers a whole host of education opportunities you won’t be able to find within the four walls of a classroom.
Our outdoors area is such a key part of our facilities and curriculum because it allows children to explore nature, engage with resources on a larger scale and gain a deeper connection with the elements and the changing of the seasons. It’s also been found to be the best place to nurture creativity and imagination in children!
We like to encourage this through providing high-quality resources that can enhance outdoor learning:

🌱Planting and harvesting in our potting shed
One of our favourite outdoor facilities that we love to enjoy all-year-round, but especially in summer, is our amazing teepee! With it being such a valuable end versatile resource, we use it for a wealth of activities. As well as being a space for all things well-being and mindfulness, in the summer months it’s also home to our story-telling events put on for children, parents, carers and grand-parents.

The design of our nursery has meant we’re also able to bring the outdoors in, letting natural light flood into every corner possible! Our classrooms, especially our Toddler rooms, are designed with big windows to make the most of the natural light and make them perfectly suited to meet the needs of this age group.
