Back to the Garden Childcare in Broadheath, Altrincham: Showing love to the things we love

Happy Valentine’s Day! At Back to the Garden Childcare, we love celebrating love, and for Valentine’s Day this year we have put together a list of small but thoughtful ways of showing love to all the things you love; from the planet, to friends and family, to our beautiful day nursery in Broadheath, Altrincham!

1. Reduce, re-use, recycle!

The 3 R’s are a key focus in our curriculum, and we encourage every little and big human at our day nursery in Altrincham to show love to our planet by doing so. By limiting the amount of waste you produce i.e. food packaging, you’re helping to reduce the amount of harmful plastic produced and slowing down the rapid growth of landfill. Recycling and composting also means the materials you throw away can be made into something new and durable, and can help your garden grow healthy and flourish.

2. “Swapping-in” more eco-friendly alternatives

Our beautiful planet gifts us with so many natural resources and nutrients to help us grow, and it deserves as much love as we give to our friends and family! Now is the perfect time to challenge yourself to show some love and do that bit more to be eco-conscious when you’re at home and out-and-about, and make your choices greener.

Have a read of our “Making your life that little bit greener and planet-friendly” blog here to see our tips on how you can make some switches to show love for our environment.

3. Showing gratitude

Gratitude can be in shown in many ways, and there is nothing more heartfelt that hearing someone say thank you, compliment you, or show appreciation! We always try to encourage the children to show gratitude towards their peers and teachers, saying “please” and “thankyou” never goes a miss.

4. Homemade cards and gifts

Homemade cards and gifts are a great way to show off your creativity, but they also come straight from the heart! We’re always getting our craft on at Back to the Garden day nursery in Broadheath, Altrincham. Painting in our Ateliers allows the children to freely express themselves and develop their creativity and imagination. What will you craft for your loved one this Valentine’s Day?

5. Being respectful

We incorporate lessons of respect in our curriculum where possible, whether it be respecting the nursery leaders, family member, parents & peers, or the environment around us including our facilities! We make sure we encourage all the children to show love to their peers and look out for each-other, making sure we’ve created a beautiful day nursery that is filled with respectful relationships, encouragement, warmth and acceptance.
